Chocolate Protects from Heart Disease and Stroke

Posted by on Aug 31 2011 | Uncategorized

The World Health Organization predicts that by 2030 as many as 23.6 million people will die annually from heart disease.

Chocolate provides protection from heart disease and stroke. In a recent study,
participants with the highest levels of chocolate consumption had a 37 percent reduction in cardiovascular disease and a 30 percent reduction in stroke.

It made no difference whether the participants consumed chocolate bars, drinks, or desserts.

Scientists warn that their findings need to be interpreted carefully because commercially available chocolate usually has many calories, which means that eating too much can lead to weight gain.

Copper Kills 97 Percent of Hospital Superbugs

Posted by on Aug 23 2011 | Uncategorized

Antibiotic dependence is responsible for many antibiotic resistant pathogens, including MRSA bacteria. Many of these antibiotic resistant germs originated in hospitals. Some hospitals are now examining copper and silver for minimizing antibiotic resistant strains of germs.

Because our doctors and hospitals rely on antibiotics for fighting illness, basic hygiene precautions are becoming lax. Even those antibacterial soaps that we all use as insurance from nasty germs can increase antibacterial resistant germs The more these bacteria get bathed in antibiotic substances, the better they are at adapting and becoming resistant.

Both silver and copper have antimicrobial properties. Silver fights pathogenic microbes voraciously, leaving the beneficial bacteria alone to get stronger.

Copper can eliminate germs spread by physical contact before they enter into the body. A recent study even discovered that using copper over surfaces where doctors, health workers, patients, and visitors touch reduces bacteria up to 97 percent.

A new study finds that pregnant women who supplement with DHA during their pregnancies have babies that are healthier than those born to women who don’t supplement with DHA.

DHA and other omega-3s occur in foods like grass-fed meat, salmon, and flax. Find it in high-quality fish oil, cod liver oil and salmon oil.

Confectioner’s Glaze Contains Bodily Excretions of an Asian Beetle

Posted by on Aug 04 2011 | Uncategorized

Confectioner’s glaze is a common ingredient in candy and pills. Coincidentally, it is also the same ingredient as shellac, the chemical used for sealing and varnishing wood.

Shellac is a chemical secreted by female lac bugs. The bugs create shellac to form tunnels as they travel along the outside of trees. Manufacturers extract it by scraping bark, bugs and tunnels from trees into canvas tubes. The next step is to melt down the shellac and dry it into flakes for sale. The final step involves re-dissolving it in denatured alcohol.

The FDA classifies shellac as GRAS — Generally Recognize As Safe. Shellac is also used in chewing gum and coffee beans. Common candies the contain shellac include Hershey’s Mild Duds and UK Skittles.

Cellphone Service

Posted by on Aug 03 2011 | Uncategorized

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Net10 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Looking for new cellphone service? Look no further… see the Light !

How about nationwide coverage without limits on talking, texting and data — all for only $50 a month. What’s more, don’t even think about contracts, which means no credit checks and NO surprises on your bills.

Don’t worry, you can use the phones you want…LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia and Samsung.

Don’t believe me, how about hearing it from a real NET10 customer ? Mike will tell it like it is. Or how about hearing what Rob has to say ?

This isn’t meant to be the fanciest or most tech-savvy phone you’ll ever have, but most of these phones will do the job at an affordable price. You can have a basic plan of 200 monthly minutes for $15. Not bad…If you need unlimited, you’re looking at $50 a month. If you need some bells and whistles like a camera, bluetooth or slide out keyboard, prices go up to about $60.  Still…not out of the range of reasonable.

You can even switch plans without penalties until you find something that works for you.

Check Net10 out on Facebook and Twitter and while you’re at it check this out!
