Chocolate Protects from Heart Disease and Stroke
The World Health Organization predicts that by 2030 as many as 23.6 million people will die annually from heart disease.
Chocolate provides protection from heart disease and stroke. In a recent study,
participants with the highest levels of chocolate consumption had a 37 percent reduction in cardiovascular disease and a 30 percent reduction in stroke.
It made no difference whether the participants consumed chocolate bars, drinks, or desserts.
Scientists warn that their findings need to be interpreted carefully because commercially available chocolate usually has many calories, which means that eating too much can lead to weight gain.
