Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products.

Posted by on Jun 10 2011 | Uncategorized

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

PharmacistRecently, I was happy to receive a free bottle of acetaminophen as a part of Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products  promotion. Obviously, the bottle isn’t gone yet, but I’ve had several occasions where I was needing pain relief and I happily reached for this bottle in my medicine chest. I was completely satisfied with the quality of this product. This was the first time I have tried this product, but I would buy it again.

In this economy, when value without compromising quality is becoming increasingly important, Walgreens is delivering. Nothing is getting cheaper, health care included, so saving money on over-the-counter medications is important for stretching the family budget. Not only that, but these products are pharmacist-recommended with a 100 percent money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied for any reason.

Walgreens is active in the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™, which is a program that will provide wellness services to people in need.

So…want to hear about some cool giveaways ? Who wouldn’t right? I guess that several blogs are giving away Walgreens gift cards. Entering is very easy, so throw your hat into this contest and see if you win!

Charity Workers Arrested for Illegally Feeding the Homeless

Posted by on Jun 07 2011 | Uncategorized

Police arrested three volunteers working for the Food Not Bombs charity for illegally feeding homeless people in an Orlando’s Florida park.

Three volunteers were handing out food in the park when officers approached them. Because local ordinances state that feeding more than 25 homeless people at a time requires a city permit, officers arrested the three and set bail at $250 for each volunteer.

This charity group has been involved in a legal battle with the city for years because of this ordinance.

The group knew that this activity would likely lead to arrests. They posted an alert on their website inviting supporters to come to the park. Officials maintain that the group can feed the homeless in other specified areas — just not the park.

Victory for Store Brand Formula

Posted by on Jun 07 2011 | Uncategorized

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of storebrandformula.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m not really a formula mom — in fact my kids have all been very voracious breastfeeders. and I am blessed to have been able to nurse them all successfully.

I do always like a good victory, though.

Recently, store brand formulas won a big victory when a U.S. Circuit Court upheld a $13.5 million false advertising claim against Mead Johnson. This case was about the Perrigo store brand infant formula business. It seems that Enfamil’s advertisements claiming superiority to store brand formulas are now considered false and misleading. Yup…store brand formulas really do offer the same nutrients as the big names, just a cheaper price!

Any time the little guy wins a victory over a conglomerate, I cheer. This doesn’t happen nearly enough. Want more information ? Go see for yourself.

This means that national brand and store brand formula makers can compete fairly with the big guys. They can even lawfully compare their products to national brand products without fear of reprisal.

If I had to purchase infant formula, I’m sure I would want to buy it as inexpensively as possible, while at the same time ensuring that I purchased a high-quality product for my child. This is a victory. Visit storebrandformula.com to learn more.

Herbal Therapy can Fight Disease

Posted by on Jun 02 2011 | Uncategorized

Scientists have found that plant compounds used in herbal medicine could be natural weapons for fighting life-threatening infections from bacteria and fungi. These infections often afflict cancer patients whose immune systems are damaged by chemo and radiation treatments. Many of the plant extracts are active against super bugs like MRSA.

Natural medicines are becoming more widely accepted as important in treating disease. The traditional knowledge of mainstream medicine provides a place to start in the search for herbal medicines.

Several plants are even broad spectrum antibiotics that can combat bacteria including E. coli, S. aureus, Candida and Aspergillus. Desert date and castor oil plant can target bacteria that conventional antibiotics has a hard time fighting.
