A recent study finds the importance of getting right vitamins, minerals and nutrients during pregnancy. Indian women who supplemented with iron, folic acid and vitamin A produced children who were smarter with better motor skills than children from mothers who did not supplement.

Researchers evaluated 676 children between 7-9 with mothers given different combinations of folic acid, iron and zinc. Researchers found that iron and folic acid improved intellectual capacity, motor function and fine motor control.

Foods naturally high in iron include string beans, spinach, turnip greens, mustard greens, and chard.
