Mouthwash Products Elevate Risk of Oral Cancer by 900 Percent

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Feb 28 2009 | New Health Discoveries, That is an Outrage!!

PhotobucketThe use of mouthwashes that contain alcohol as an ingredient can drastically increase a person’s risk of cancers of the mouth, head and neck.

Researchers examined the use of mouthwash among 3,210 people and then compared it with rates of mouth, head and neck cancers.

The researchers found that all participants who used an alcohol-containing mouthwash at least once per day had a significantly increased risk of cancer. Those who both used alcohol-containing mouthwash and regularly drank alcoholic beverages had five times the risk of cancers of the larynx, pharynx or oral cavity. The cancer risks for people who smoked and used alcohol-containing mouthwashes was nine times more.

The body breaks down alcohol into a carcinogenic compound called acetaldehyde. Because of the way that mouthwash is swished around, acetaldehyde may thereby accumulate in the oral cavity.

Researchers also believe that alcohol makes mucus membranes more permeable to other chemicals, allowing nicotine and other carcinogens increased access to the body’s tissues.

Age-Related Changes in the Brain Slowed With Fitness

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Feb 16 2009 | Natural Health, New Health Discoveries

Being more physically fit appears to slow down damage to the brain’s memory centers in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers conducted brain scans on adults over the age of 60 who were in early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, along with 56 who did not have any dementia. Alzheimer’s patients who were more physically fit exhibited less of a decrease in the volume of the brain’s memory areas than those who were less fit.

Prior research has suggested that remaining physically active slows the rate of age-related cognitive decline in people without dementia.

“The message is essentially if you have Alzheimer’s disease, it’s not too late to become physically fit,” said Sam Gandy, chairman of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Council.

Crazy Dog Tshirts

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Feb 06 2009 | All Inclusive

PhotobucketT shirts are fun. I don’t think I wear cute t shirts nearly as often as I should. My kids always get a kick out of me when I wear a funny t shirt. Don’t you think this t shirt is perfect for me? I just spent a long time browsing around in the many crazy dog tshirts that are for sale on the Crazy Dog Tshirts website. They are not expensive and they have a really, really big selection. I just know that if I sent this link to my sons they would probably easily find more t shirts than I would really care to buy them. They’d have a blast!

Shady-photoI think my favorite category of t shirts on this site had to be the 80s category. Boy did a lot of those shirts bring back a flood of memories of my high school years. I’m not sure I would really wear anything from that decade now, but it was fun to browse through and see those old icons that instantly brought back my high school days.

FeedCluster for Promoting Your Blog

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Feb 02 2009 | All Inclusive

I am trying something new with this blog. It’s called FeedCluster.com Aggregator Hosting and let me tell you what this is.

FeedCluster is a free hosting of community aggregators. Wondering what a community aggregator is? I was too, at first. Well, a community aggregator is a community of blogs about a specific topic.

When you join, your blog(s) can be featured in an aggregator if you publish an RSS or Atom feed. These aggregator pages are customizable, too. You can customize your HTML, labels, and navigation bar boxes. Popular aggregator entries are chosen to be displayed in the FeedCluster.com home page, too!

An aggregator also has widgets that you can put in your blog or website.Clicks made through widgets also count when it comes to determining blog entry popularity so this can be important.

Seven Easy Steps to Gorgeous Skin

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Feb 02 2009 | Natural Health, To Your Great Health!

1. Avoid Food Intolerances

If you are intolerant to certain foods, it may show up as bags or dark circles under the eyes. Sugar is one of the most aging toxins. Cow’s milk is linked with acne and poor skin quality. Excess alcohol and other toxins that make the liver overworked can make the skin look overworked.

2. Avoid Free Radicals and Eat Loads of Antioxidants

Free radicals such as household chemicals and cigarettes cause aging.

Kale, cabbage, chilli peppers, parsley artichokes and Brussels sprouts are some of the most powerful vegetables. Berries, pineapple, pomegranate, prunes and kiwis are some of the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity. Raw chocolate, bee pollen, goji berries, and spirulina are some of the new super foods shown to dramatically reduce aging, as well as most other health issues.

3. Find Your Optimum Weight and Stay There

The endless cycle of losing weight, gaining it back only to go on yet another diet is terrible for the skin, not to mention dangerous for the body and exhausting for the mind. This constant rise and fall of weight can potentially cause wrinkles and saggy skin.

4. Limit Intense Sun Exposure

Excess sun exposure can cause skin damage. The key is to get short bursts of sun so that you don’t get sun burned. Eating plenty of antioxidants will actually make you less likely to get sun burned.

5. Moisturize with Nature’s Most Perfect Oil

Coconut oil keeps the skin strong and supple, preventing sagging, wrinkled skin. It protects from free radicals and is a natural sunscreen.

6. Get Plenty of Essential Fats

Omega-3 fatty acids are a key ingredient for beautiful skin. Most people are seriously lacking in these fats that are vital for vibrant, healthy looking skin.

7. Relax Your Facial Muscles

Be aware of your facial expressions. If you frown a lot, try to relax the muscles.
