Heroes at Home Wish Registry

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 28 2008 | All Inclusive

Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry is a wonderful opportunity for you and I to give back to American families who are making big sacrifices for yours and my freedoms and safety.

This is a program created by Sears as a way to help provide for military families’ needs during this upcoming season. There are over 30,000 military families who are registered in this program and while I was at the Sears website, so far there have been 525,522 contributions made to help them! This is awesome!

Military families can register for what they need and anyone can go ahead and help meet these needs by donations. The donations are not tax deductible and the program will provide for the families by giving them Sears gift cards. All of the gift cards will be distributed equally among the registered families.

This program was created to help service people, their families, and veterans as well. This year Sears is excited about their expanded effort that is enabling Americans to help these American heroes more than ever. This would be a great way to give back to these families who are sacrificing for our country every day.

Time For Pretty Nails Again!

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 26 2008 | All Inclusive

PhotobucketThere was a day…way back years ago…when I used to go to a lot of trouble for my nails. I spent a lot of money and time making sure that my nails always looked really, really nice. Then…my house began to fill up with kids and I began to have to work hard to feed and care for them. And somehow finding the perfect shade of nail polish to match my lipgloss became something I forgot to worry about.

Well…guess what? The kids are starting to get a little older now and I am finding I finally have a little more time to devote to caring about such things! Life is good! I found a website this morning that really got me thinking that having pretty nails would be a nice thing to work on again.

You know me…I like to do things as healthily and naturally as possible. That is why I was so happy to see that this website even has a line of nail polish that is Formaldehyde Free! This is a great thing! This great line of nail polish is called “Olan Nail Polish” and I love the colors I saw! I think my favorite would have to be “Toasted.” It looks perfect for this time of year and I would love to wear this on both my fingernails and toenails! It is so pretty!

If you buy and wear nail polish, this is a great site.  Tons of brands to choose from, great selection of colors, and fantastic prices!  I think this is going to be a little gift I give to myself…pretty nails again!

Ways to Avoid GMOs in Your Daily Diet

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 26 2008 | To Your Great Health!

Most people, if they had a choice, would try to avoid GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in their food.

Unfortunately for us, the food giant corporations have gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that we have to possible way of knowing whether the food we are all eating contains GMOs. The labeling of GMOs on food packaging in the US is illegal. If a company like Kelloggs decided to include a full disclosure label on their cereal boxes that stated, “contains genetically modified corn” they could actually be sued by the manufacturer and even face possible incarceration! It certainly would be best to try to avoid the GMO contaminants altogether and make an effort to know which companies we are choosing to support.

Here are five simple yet effective ways to decrease your contact with GMOs.

Buy Locally Produced Food

At this point, GMOs are only used by large multinational corporations who buy direct from large farms. Produce from local farmers are not yet genetically modified. Purchasing locally grown food supports not only your local farmers but also your health.

Buy Organically Grown Food

The organic certification process is still quite safe for ensuring your food is free of GMOs. This may not always be the case in the future, however.

Avoid the Top Four GMO Crops of Soy, Corn, Canola and Cottonseed

Most blended oils in North America contain canola and cottonseed. Try to purchase 100% extra virgin olive oil. Be aware, however, that unless it specifically states “Non-GMO” or some derivation on the label, it most likely contains GMOs.

Avoid Artificial Additives and Sweeteners

Did you know that aspartame is created using genetic modification? Even most vitamin C (asorbic Acid) and many B vitamins are created by genetic modification.

Look For the Non-GMO Label

If it does not state Non-GMO on the label, then email the manufacturer and ask if they use GMO feed. Consider contacting all of the manufacturers of the foods you eat on a daily or weekly basis to determine whether GMOs ingredients are utilized in the food.

Excess Belly Fat is a Risk

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 26 2008 | Uncategorized

A recent study has found that people with a higher waist-to-hip ratio are at higher risk of death.

The study was conducted using 359,387 participants over a 10 year period. Initial information included BMI (Body Mass Index) and the location of the excess weight on the body. The participants ranged in age from 25 to 70 years came from nine different European countries. At the end of the 10 year study 14,723 people had died.

The risk of death was at its lowest when the BMI was at 25.3 and 24.3 for men and women respectively. The risk of death increased as the BMI fell below these levels or rose above them. After adjustments it was realized that the waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio played a significant role in the risk of death. It appears that the belly fat could be implicated in the risk of death.

BMI levels were higher among participants who did not currently or had never smoked than it was for current and former smokers.

Even those in comparatively good health could suffer health issues due to belly fat. Maintaining a healthy BMI is a good preventative measure for better health.

HPV Vaccine Contains Rat Poison Chemical

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 25 2008 | That is an Outrage!!

The hazardous chemical sodium borate is among the ingredients listed in the HPV vaccine. Are you wondering what this chemical that is commonly used to kill rats is doing in the HPV vaccine? I am!

This is the vaccine currently being pushed on girls as young as nine and is even being considered for men and boys at this point!

What is Sodium Borate?

Sodium borate is a boric acid salt also known as borax. While it is a common a rat poison, it is also used in laundry detergents, cosmetics, enamel glazes, and flame retardants. Sodium borate also has antifungal properties, which tells us that this is most likely the reason it is present in vaccines.

Sodium Borate has been banned as food additive. It is still used as a food additive in some countries, but it is now banned in many places.

Sodium Borate poisoning symptoms mimic reactions to HPV vaccine.

Exposure to sodium borate can cause convulsions and other ill health effects. Girls who receive the HPV vaccine have reported similar symptoms to those that appear in cases of sodium borate poisoning. This particular government site provides the following warning regarding this chemical: “WARNING! HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, INHALED OR ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. CAUSES IRRITATION TO SKIN, EYES AND RESPIRATORY TRACT.”

Does it sound like sodium borate should be injected into humans? I think not…

Check Out These Great Cell Phone Offers

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 18 2008 | All Inclusive

Verizon Wireless has some really attractive free cell phone offers right now that I would like to share with you. I think you’ll agree that it really doesn’t get much better than these and if you are in the market for a new phone, one of these may be the offer for you!

What we have here are the latest Smart Phones. I just got my first Smart Phone last August and I can’t believe how much I love it! The versatility and technology available with a Smart Phone is an amazing thing and I do not plan to ever be without one again.

  • The Verizonwireless Storm will finally be available on November 21. This is the first touchscreen BlackBerry and is anticipated to be in high demand.
  • The ATT Blackberry Bold is a great all-purpose Smart phone with great speed and functionality.
  • The Sprint Instinct phone is a new touchscreen cell phone that also sports a GPS and 2-megapixel camera.

I’d be hard-pressed to choose between these phones, but I think I’d have to go with the Blackberry Storm. The fact that it comes with 1 GB of memory, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a fully-functional web browser, as well as a removable battery make it sound like a very, very nice phone. It’s not hard to understand why they are anticipating it will be very popular.

Visit this site and choose a new Smart Phone for yourself!

Get Your Five Per Day Easily

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Nov 14 2008 | Natural Health, To Your Great Health!

PhotobucketWe know we need to eat more fruits and vegetables for optimum health and to reduce the risk of cancer, cardiovascular problems, diabetes, and obesity. Though it sounds easy, data shows that most people don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables. Most people only eat two servings of fruits and vegetables each day even though they should eat at least five. Here’s a tip – fruits and vegetables can be canned, dried, fresh, frozen, juiced, and liquidized to count towards your five a day.

Try an omelet for breakfast filled with peppers, muchrooms, salsa, or spinach. If you like bagels, top one with fruit or a tomato slice. Apples, oranges, grapefruits, and bananas all make easy additions to breakfast. If you eat cereal or pancakes, top these with fresh fruit as well.

For lunch, tuck some cucumber slices, lettuce, onion, or tomatoes into your sandwich. For suppers, consider replacing white potatoes with sweet potatoes for a nutritional punch. Remember that bags of frozen fruits and vegetables make easy additions to your meals.

For snacking, reach for raw fruits and vegetables.
Baby carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumber spears, or red pepper strips dipped in hummus or salad dressing are a great snack. Try grapes or raisins or a banana for a snack. Eating dried fruits like apricots, cherries, cranberries, dates, and figs will satisfy any munchie craving.

Keep fruits and vegetables visible and easily accessible. Keep a fruit bowl full of fresh and washed fruits on the kitchen counter for your family to have easy access to fruits.

Start with a salad when eating out. Substitute vegetables for fries. When at a buffet make a big salad before you eat anything else.

Don’t forget the best treat of all – smoothies! These are easily made with a wide variety of frozen fruit and milk or yogurt. Kids love these at any time of the day and they are a powerhouse of nutrients.

When you start your day thinking about how you can add fruits and vegetables into your daily routine, you will surely succeed and you will reap many positive health benefits.
