Avoid the Flu Shot

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 31 2008 | To Your Great Health!

Reasons to avoid getting a flu shot:

1. First, there is no evidence that flu shots really work. The flu shot is only able to protect against specific strains of influenza. If you come into contact with a strain that you were not vaccinated from then you will still get the flu. This happens often.

2. Flu vaccines contain mercury, which is a seriously health compromising heavy metal. The amount of mercury contained in a multi-dose flu shot is 250 times higher in mercury than what is legally classified as hazardous waste.

3. The flu vaccines contain the antibiotics neomycin, polymyxin B and gentamicin. These are added to eliminate stray bacteria. These antibiotics wipe out beneficial bacteria that is needed for optimum health.

4. Vaccines contain Polysorbate 80 as an emulsifier. This ingredient can seriously lower the immune system and cause anaphylactic shock as well.

5.There is increasing evidence that flu shots cause Alzheimer’s because of the aluminum and formaldehyde combined with mercury. Some research is suggesting that people who received flu shots each year for 3 to 5 years had 10 times greater chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease than people who did not have flu shots.

6. It seems apparent that the flu shot is potentially dangerous and doesn’t make a difference anyway.

Here are some powerful ways that you can ensure you don’t get the flu this year without a toxic flu shot:

  • Make sure you get plenty of sunshine over the winter. Winter flu is often a result of vitamin D deficiency from lack of sun. If you live in a place without sunshine you may take cod liver oil.
  • Exercise! When you get your body moving you are much less likely to get sick.
  • Eat plenty of immune boosting foods like garlic, vitamin C containing fruits and fresh green juices.
  • Eliminate sugar. Sugar suppresses the immune system and causes disease.
  • Deal with emotional stress. Anger and stress suppress the immune system.
  • Get plenty of sleep. Sleep deprivation suppresses the immune system.

New Software for Teaching Young Children to Read

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 23 2008 | All Inclusive

I think I just found the perfect gift for my granddaughter. This new system is called Little Reader and it sounds perfect for her.

BrillKids has just launched a new downloadable software tool for parents and educators who want to teach children to read in an easy, fun and efficient way. This was created for children at least four months. You can easily create flash cards using the computer as a platform to educate very young children.

Press Release:

October 23, 2008 – BrillKids Inc. announces the launch of Little Reader HOME BASIC, a downloadable software tool for parents and educators who wish to teach children to read in an easy, fun and efficient way. Suitable for children aged four months and up, Little Reader enables users to easily create flash cards, using the computer as a powerful platform with which to educate very young children. Incorporating methods developed over several decades by experts in the early learning field in their product’s functionality and design, BrillKids’ Little Reader is able to take advantage of the right-brain learning capabilities of children during the critical early years.

Following the success of their online community, BrillKids provides an answer to the needs of parents worldwide for a more convenient program with which to teach their young ones. Even with the burgeoning children’s product market filled with available educational videos, laminated flash cards, and pre-made slideshow presentations, none come close to providing complete customizable solutions for parents who want to teach their children in a more personalized way. “Little Reader is a groundbreaking program from BrillKids,” said KL Wong, CEO of BrillKids Inc. “Not only is it our very first software product to be made commercially available, it is also the project closest to my heart, having created it specifically for parents like me who could not find convenient ways with which I could create and personalize my little daughter’s flash card lessons. To know that Little Reader can put smiles on children’s faces when they see their parents’ pictures on the screen while being taught their first words about family is simply amazing.”

Helping Parents Teach Their Children to Read
Many parents have already witnessed the benefits of using the Little Reader program during the span of its three-month beta testing period. “I have thoroughly enjoyed using Little Reader – I thought I knew a lot about teaching reading to people of all ages – and particularly since I was a follower of Glenn Doman methods 40ish years ago,” said Amanda, a parent from Brazil. “That said – I have found Little Reader totally inspiring – it is very addictive, and it encourages the user to not only make use of the material provided in the program – but to create their own.”

“My kids really love Little Reader,” adds Paola from California. “This software gives my children lessons they can relate to – their own body/family/toys/pets. And the fact that people from all over the world using any language – even dialects – can come together, share concerns and experiences, give one another support, and contribute to the whole is absolutely amazing. I can honestly say that I don’t know of any other software that is as versatile, meaningful and enjoyable as Little Reader.”

Making it Easy for the Busy Parent
BrillKids also offers hundreds of free additional learning library files which Little Reader users can simply download through their online community – a balm for parents who do not have the time to create their own content.

“In my very busy schedule as a working mother, I found Little Reader to be perfect teaching tool,” says Jane from South Carolina. “This program saves me so much time in preparing my teaching materials because it’s just so easy to use, turning ‘lesson time’ into ‘bonding time’ for my little Alyssa. The free additional library files are also fantastic – it’s so convenient to just download what I want, when I want them.”

Created by Parents for Parents
An overwhelming number of requests from parents worldwide spurred the creation of Little Reader, and BrillKids made it a point to take the development of this software closer to the hearts of those who inspired it to fruition through its customer-oriented forefront throughout the three-month beta testing period. The company took all suggestions and comments from an international pool of beta testers and integrated functions to satisfy what real parents need from an educational software program for young children.

Little Reader’s release brings the company closer to their aims of enhancing the quality of life for parents and parents-to-be, helping them give their child the gift of early literacy.

About BrillKids Inc

Spices Do Much More Than Just Flavor Food

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 23 2008 | To Your Great Health!

All spices add flavor to our foods. However here is a list of spices that are particularly abundant in health benefits. Adding them to the foods you prepare and eat will help reduce free radical damage and combat the aging process.

Cinnamon – Cinnamon has insulin-like qualities. Studies have shown that just 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon a day can help lower the risk of metabolic syndrome – high blood cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose levels – by up to 30 percent.

Cinnamon is anti-microbial and can stop the growth of bacteria, fungi and yeast. Cinnamon has anti-clotting and anti-inflammatory properties. Cinnamon also boosts brain function.

Ginger – Ginger has been shown to significantly aid with nausea, vomiting, and morning sickness. It also helps to prevent motion sickness. It is a powerful antioxidant, and is thought to relax blood vessels, stimulate blood flow and relieve pain. It is a common digestive aid.

Oregano – Thymol and carvacrol are two of oregano’s potent antibacterial properties. Oregano works in the intestinal tract to kill unfriendly bacteria without damage to the friendly bacteria. It has 4 times the antioxidant activity of blueberries.

Rosemary – In winter put a rosemary bush inside the house to be a natural air cleaner and freshener. Rosemary stops gene mutations that could lead to cancer.

Turmeric – This Indian spice is one of nature’s most powerful healers. It acts as effectively as drugs like hydrocortisone, phenylbutazone and Motrin. It is helpful with inflammatory bowel diseases, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, cystic fibrosis, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

Garlic – Garlic destroys cancer cells and may disrupt the metabolism of tumor cells. Studies show that two cloves of garlic weekly provide cancer-protective benefits.

Garlic appears to protect the heart as well. Garlic is commonly known as preventative and treatment for the common cold.

Sage – Sage may fight rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma and atherosclerosis. It appears to promote better brain function.

Red chili peppers – These peppers contain capsaicin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that helps relieve pain.

Coriander – This herb is effective against swelling, high cholesterol levels, diarrhea, mouth ulcers, anemia, digestion, menstrual disorders, conjunctivitis, and skin disorders.

Parsley – Parsley is a cancer fighter. Animal studies have shown that parsley inhibits tumor formation, particularly in the lungs.

A Website to Learn the Truth Behind Media Lies

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 23 2008 | All Inclusive

Over the past several years I have become increasingly skeptical and untrusting of mainstream media. I believe they have an agenda that makes it impossible for them to deliver unbiased and accurate news about world events. The internet has become a huge resource for those of us who do not wish to be fed lies by the mainstream media.

I just found a website that promises unbiased, uncensored, accurate news. It’s called the Israeli Uncensored News and very simply, their promise is to be an alternative news source that delivers the truth.

If you are concerned about hearing the truth and not being served up the lies that the mainstream media wants you to hear, then you should visit this site.

Top Foods for Longevity

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 23 2008 | Natural Health, To Your Great Health!

The right foods can contribute to longevity. These special foods are rich in naturally occurring phytochemicals including tannins, lignins and flavonoids.

A lack of fruits and vegetables in one’s diet will increase your risk of chronic disease. They are essential for longevity and will slow the aging process because they protect cells from the normal wear-and-tear that occurs with time.

Top 20 Superfoods:

  1. apples
  2. blackberries
  3. black tea
  4. blueberries
  5. broccoli
  6. cereal bran
  7. cherries
  8. cherry tomatoes
  9. coffee
  10. cranberries
  11. dark chocolates
  12. green tea
  13. oranges
  14. peaches
  15. plums
  16. raspberries
  17. red grapes
  18. red onions
  19. spinach
  20. strawberries

Yes…dark chocolate is on the list because it is rich in flavonoids that reduce “bad” cholesterol and also makes blood platelets less likely to clump together and cause heart attack and stroke producing clots.

Coffee drinken in moderation has been found to be a natural health-enhancer. Several studies indicate that people who drink coffee regularly are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson’s.

The Heel Smoother Will Restore Feet to Beautiful

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 19 2008 | All Inclusive

During the summer when I don’t wear socks and shoes and I run around either in sandals or barefooted, my feet tend to get quite rough. I really hate this, because it makes me not want to wear sandals – I just hate dry, cracked heels! They are so ugly!

I just learned about a new product called the Heel Smoother and it sounds like the perfect tool for keeping your feet smooth and healthy.

This is an easy to use, battery-operated device that gets rid of the dead dry skin on your feet.  The Heel Smoother uses tips that are made from the same material that is used in microdermabrasion treatments and it also has the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance.

It also comes with small jar of Topaz Foot Butter. This is a shea butter based moisturizer that will protect your brand-new skin. I have used shea butter for years and swear by this! There is simply nothing better for your skin.

If you order now, you can use the Promotion Code AWPPP08 and receive a 15% discount. What’s more, 2 % of all profits are donated to alternative treatments and screenings for women’s cancers!

This is a great product and I fully intend to try it – I’ll let you know how much I love it!

New Glove Can Help Women Detect Breast Cancer Early

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 16 2008 | New Health Discoveries, To Your Great Health!

PhotobucketOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With this in mind, I want to share with you information about something new that every woman should know about.

The Donna Glove is a special glove designed to detect breast lumps. It is a safe and effective way for every woman to carry out breast self examination. The Donna Glove boasts a special design that magnifies the sense of your fingers allowing lumps the size of a grain of sugar to be detected. This cannot be done with bare hands.

To use the Donna Glove, you perform a breast self exam in the same way except you wear the Glove. You check from your collar bone and into your armpits on both sides. It is now known that lumps can grow in one weeks time so it is suggested to perform the procedure weekly.

The glove itself is a double layer of polyurethane with mineral oil between the layers. This allows for the enhanced ability to feel lumps.

There was a study involving 108 women over a one year period. These women all had previous lumps and were at high risk for developing breast cancer. They were split into two groups. Group 1 was given a Donna Glove and group 2 continued to do self breast exams with bare hands.

After six months, 84% of these patients had recurrence of the lumps confirmed by mammography. Group 1 (issued the Donna Glove) had a 100% self-detection rate. Group 2 had only 22 of 45 women detecting lumps with their bare hands.

This study concluded that in a population of potential breast cancer patients breast self exam with the Donna Glove is directly connected to earlier detection and an improved survival rate over bare hand self examination.

Dragon is Going To Help Me Reach New Heights!

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 10 2008 | All Inclusive

I have dabbled in writing for most of my life. My mother still has some of my earliest stories that she has saved and ever since I can remember I have wanted to either be a novelist or a newspaper reporter.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 PreferredI just found out about a contest that I think is so cool. It’s called NaNoWrimo and it starts on November 1. This is a novel writing contest! Honestly…this is something I would love to do. But how on earth can I fit this into my already FULL daily schedule? It’s just not going to happen unless I find a miracle. Wait! Maybe I have found the miracle tool I need to accomplish something like this and much more.

If I were to even consider entering a contest like this, the only way I could swing it would be by using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for NaNoWrimo. I am an average typist. In fact, to illustrate my typing skills I went to Dragon’s site and took Dragon’s typing speed test!

Here were my results:

Photobucket

As you can see, if I were to use Dragon my typing output would dramatically increase. Maybe I really could write a novel in a month! Not only would this be a real possibility, but the time I could save just in my daily blogging activities would be tremendous. I write 5 blogs…on top of everything else I do daily for my family. If I could increase my multitasking capabilities by being able to compose blog posts while I am…for instance…doing laundry or cooking dinner…well, the possibilities would be very exciting for me!

I spent some time reading these Dragon Reviews and came away really feeling like I want and need to purchase this software. It will increase my productivity in a huge way and how can I not seriously consider buying this?

If you need a little more convincing, please watch

and

These are both great sources of information that will help you see how this software will enhance and increase your productivity.

Seven Foods That Can Help You Rest

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Oct 10 2008 | New Health Discoveries, To Your Great Health!

Sleep allows the body to rejuvenate and restore itself. Sleep deprivation is one of the biggest causes of aging. Tiredness also affects your moods and can increase your risk of depression and anxiety.  Sleep deprivation can also affect your ability to use your brain. This can directly affect your creativity. It can also decrease your ability to think or react quickly, which may affect your ability to drive or do daily tasks.

Sleep needs vary from person to person. Studies indicate that most people are most effective when they sleep an average of 7 hours…but between 5 and 7 hours of sleep each night is a good range for most people.

The foods we eat can help us to sleep better. The following foods can help improve sleep patterns.

Bananas

Bananas balance melatonin and serotonin levels. These are the neurotransmitters necessary for deep sleep. They also contain magnesium, which is a muscle relaxant.

Chamomile tea

Chamomile is a mild sedative that calms and relaxes. This makes it a perfect antidote for restless minds and bodies.

Honey

Honey helps the brain relax because it contains orexin. This is a recently discovered neurotransmitter that’s linked to alertness.

Potatoes

Potatoes contain tryptophan, which makes the body sleepy.

Oatmeal

Oats are high in melatonin.

Almonds

Almonds can help you relax because they contain tryptophan and magnesium.

Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are a rich source omega-3 fatty acids, which make them a natural mood enhancer.
