Certification for Personal Trainers

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 31 2008 | All Inclusive

If this is your first visit, please consider subscribing to my RSS feed. You'll be sure not to miss one awesome thing!

Eventually, either my husband or myself is going to have to become a Certified Personal Trainer in order for us to realize our goal of owning a Fitness Consulting Business. We haven’t researched too much into what is involved yet so this is definitely an area that I need to educate myself about.

International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) has provided certification and continuing education for almost 100,000 health and fitness professionals for the past twenty years. Earning ISSA Personal Training Certifications is possible through a home/online study course. This sounds perfect for our needs.

Here’s the bottom line: Fitness Training and Fitness Education are hot now and only going to get hotter. Anything that is connected to “natural healing” is going to be extremely popular in the upcoming years. Becoming a Certified Personal Trainer is going to be a great way to get involved in this hot new mindset.

ISSA is actively pursuing the accreditation of six of their personal trainer certification programs. This is a important indication of a quality certifying organization. They offer several different certification programs - one of which is sure to fit your needs.

The tuition and fees are very reasonable, in case you were wondering. I admit I was! For less than $600 you can be certified in your brand new career. There are no additional hidden fees either. No book fees, no application fees, and no exam re-test fees! I even saw something about tuition assistance for US applicants who have need. That is very interesting!

So…if you’re wondering whether this is something that would be a good fit for you, here is what you should do. Visit ISSA’s site and take their quick “Personal Trainer Evaluation” to see if you would be good at this. Then if it’s a fit, go ahead and request their Free Personal Training Brochure. That will give you all of the information you need to get started.

Obesity Accelerates Cancer

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 31 2008 | New Health Discoveries, To Your Great Health!

PhotobucketObesity increases the risk of a large number of cancers…by as much as 50 percent in some cases. It has now been formally concluded that excess body fat causes some cancers.

Researchers conducted an analysis of 144 prior studies that included 282,000 people. They compared the cancer rates of those whose body mass index (BMI) increased from normal to overweight or from overweight to obese with those whose BMI remained normal or overweight.

BMI is a measurement of weight relative to height.

An increase in body mass increased the risk of rare blood cancers in both women and men (including adult leukemia, multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma). In men, it increased the risk of colon and kidney cancers by (24 %) and the risk of thyroid cancer (33 %).

Women who became overweight suffered a 34 percent higher incidence of kidney cancer and a 59 percent higher incidence of gall-bladder cancer.

Vista Eyes Performs Lasik Eye Surgery

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 27 2008 | All Inclusive

Lasik eye surgery is becoming more and more commonplace among people who suffer from vision problems. I remember even ten years ago, there was a lot of apprehension among people because there were still a lot of unknowns about the long term effects of having this surgery.

It seems that the consensus is that Lasik is safe and effective for improving one’s vision if eyeglasses are necessary.

I myself do not wear eyeglasses as I have been very blessed to have great vision. I think I would at least have seriously looked at Lasik by now if I did wear glasses, though.

Americans Don’t Blindly Believe the Media Anymore

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 27 2008 | Natural Health, To Your Great Health!

PhotobucketThere is finally a movement among more and more people not to blindly accept much of the brainwashing that is continually presented as fact to the American people by mainstream media. In fact, it is totally acceptable and sensible nowadays to be cynical and critical of any source of information…especially when associated with politics, big business and the media.

“If you tell people a big enough lie, often enough, they will believe it.”

People are becoming used to being on the receiving end of deceit and deception. We are being constantly lied to by governments, government officials, drug companies, the medical profession, multinational industry, food companies and politicians. We are also often lied to in financial transactions, stockholders reports and corporate statements.

One wise thing to remember is to try to look at the motives behind everything you hear and see. There is always a motive. What are they ’selling’? Keep an open mind and treat all information with a reasonable amount of skepticism.

If all else fails, use a little old fashioned commonsense.

Give the Fat Loss Guru a Chance to Help You Lose Weight

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 27 2008 | All Inclusive

My weight loss adventures have always followed the births of my children out of necessity. Even though I have never been greatly overweight, having had several children, I have been in the position of having to lose weight several times.

That is why I know that losing weight is not usually an enjoyable experience. In fact, for most people it is downright unpleasant…something to be suffered through and gotten through as quickly as possible.

Though I’m not current in need of a weight loss program, sometimes I just happen upon different programs for losing weight and often stop to see what exactly their approach is. I like the approaches that are based on whole foods, exercise, portion control, and moderation. It’s the LIFESTYLE change that I like to see promoted in weight loss programs - because that is the only way to make a permanent change. That is the only way to get yourself healthy and start reaping the benefits of a healthy, happy, active lifestyle.

This program that I just found is something new and different. Nothing at all like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. It is such a delight to see a diet that will help people lose weight. In addition to weight loss this program will help people get healthy. Chronic illnesses like diabetes, adrenal fatigue, hormonal problems can be a thing of the past.

This weight loss program is so simple because of its fat burning diet generator. It also comes with an ultimate diet handbook. In looking around at this website, I have to say that I agree with their approach to eating less amounts more often. This is a great way to keep your metabolism humming throughout the day and to make sure that your blood sugar levels don’t dip too low.

I also agree with his approach to carbs. Carb restricting is one of my biggest peeves about the diet industry. The human body runs on carbs!

Overall - I think this approach is worth looking in to for anyone searching for a different diet option that is based on common sense and not fad.

Tips for Smarter Travel - Part 12

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 26 2008 | To Your Great Health!

Tip #12: Bring your own natural laundry detergent

If you will be needingto do laundry at your destination and you don’t want to use the toxic chemical detergents offered for sale at retail, you’ll need to bring your own laundry detergent.

Bodhi Soap Nuts are good, as is Seventh Generation, Maggie’s Soap Nuts, as well as other eco-conscious laundry soaps.

The important thing is to avoid the toxic, brand-name laundry products. Just about all conventional laundry products contain cancer-causing chemicals that are horrible for your own health and horrible for the environment.

Corporate Holiday Cards Are a Nice Touch

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 25 2008 | All Inclusive

Sending out business Christmas cards to employees and clients is a really nice touch. In fact, I would go so far as to say it can make the difference between a mediocre business relationship and one that is rock-solid.

Showing your business contacts that you care and that they are important to you will do wonders for your success as a business owner. Things like this tend to be remembered.

ChristmasCardsDirect.com is a very reputable resource for corporate Holiday greeting cards. They have an extensive selection of very attractive cards to choose from and their prices are great also!

Tips for Smarter Travel - Part 11

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 25 2008 | To Your Great Health!

Tip #11: Bring your own personal care products
Don’t settle forthe shampoo and soap provided by the hotel. Those products are full of toxic fragrance chemicals. Bring you own personal care products instead.

Here are some good ones:

Dr. Bronner’s soap - For washing your hands, face and body. Can also be used as a shampoo.

• Toothsoap (www.Toothsoap.com) - Better than toothpaste. Simple, natural and portable. I like the “Plain Jane” variety.

Dental Miracle - Herbal tooth powder

Peri-Gum - A cayenne-based herbal mouthwash with multiple medicinal herbs

• Natural Sunscreen - If you are careful about sun exposure a sunscreen is not necessary…but if you want to, bring a natural brand. The most natural brand I’ve found is called Caribbean Blue.

Tips for Smarter Travel - Part 10

Posted by User ImageSeeker on Aug 24 2008 | To Your Great Health!

Tip #10: Have emergency first-aid herbs on hand
Traveling with a 1 oz. tincture bottle of cayenne pepper is very beneficial.

Other herbs:

• Ginger (for motion sickness and boosts immune system)
• Aloe vera gel (for digestion and anti-viral uses)
• Yun Nan Bai Yao - stops bleeding! A formula developed in 1902, and it has an astounding ability to stop bleeding from cuts, scrapes and other wounds.

If all emergency rooms used Yun Nan Bai Yao patients would be far better off.  Western medical people are clueless about most anything they didn’t invent themselves, though.  Go to a Chinese medicine store to find this.
